As part of the Government Performance and Results Act (GPRA) of 1993 and updated in 2010, it is federally mandated that all SAMHSA grantees are required to collect and report performance data using approved measurement tools. SAMHSA collects data on key output and outcome measures to monitor and manage grantee performance, improve the quality of services provided, and inform evaluation reports.

Client-level data are collected from grantees including demographics, ICD10 diagnostic categories, substance use and abuse, mental health and physical health functioning, and other key variables.

The State of Michigan has completed and continues to complete GPRA for a variety of SAMHSA-funded projects, such as MY-TIE, PPW, SBIRT, and SOR.
