The Michigan Youth Treatment Improvement and Enhancement Grant seeks to implement a treatment infrastructure and effective service delivery system to improve the quality of treatment and recovery support services for adolescents and transitional aged youth 16 to 21.
OVERVIEW
The purpose of the Michigan Youth Treatment Improvement and Enhancement initiative is to improve the quality of treatment and recovery support services for adolescents and transitional aged youth 16-21 years, and to assure youth statewide access to evidence-based assessments, treatment models, and recovery services. Grant activities have been guided by the following goals and objectives set out in the planning phase of the grant:

1. Improve existing state infrastructure for adolescents and transitional aged youth aged 16-21. | Maintain IAC. Develop and maintain financial mapping process and reporting. Develop and implement a plan for sustainability of adolescent and transitional age youth infrastructure and treatment providers. Implement policy additions and modifications in contracts. Implement a continuous quality assurance plan for improving treatment and recovery services. |
2. Create a training collaborative for treatment providers on topics specific to adolescent and transitional aged youth. | Create state-wide workforce training plan inclusive of the needs of the target population and approved evidence based practices. Train non-SUD professionals that have contact with the target population. Develop and make accessible continuing education training available through the state. Ensure that cultural competency and health disparity information is included in every training. |
3. Improve statewide knowledge of resources and available treatment for the population of focus. | Promote coordination and collaboration with family support organizations to strengthen services for the target population. Use provider collaborative and family/youth network to increase knowledge of treatment resources and recovery supports statewide. |
4. Improve direct treatment for SUD and/or co-occurring substance use and mental health disorder and recovery support services for the population of focus and their families. | Identify and address common provider-level administrative challenges in providing substance use treatment and recovery services. GRANT REQUIREMENTS
The State of Michigan has chosen to contract with 9 substance use treatment agencies that serve the highest numbers of youth and transitional aged youth 16-21 years old. Grant activities are executed with the overarching goal of improving substance use treatment services to youth throughout the state. Grant funds are distributed to Prepaid Inpatient Health Plans in regions across the state, which then distribute funds to the 9 target agencies. SURVEY LINKS & FOLLOW-UP WINDOW
GPRA surveying is required of all youth served through the MYTIE grant, this is a federal requirement tied to funding. GPRA surveying includes; intake, discharge, and 6 month follow up. A follow up rate of 80% is required for completion. All GPRA surveying is done electronically.
As part of the evaluation of the MYTIE grant, each grantee is requirement to submit an electronic survey by the 3rd Friday of every month. Participation in surveying is required.
Determining GPRA Follow Up Surveying Window:
If intake occurs on January 1st, the follow up surveying window will open on June 1st and close on September 1st. See graphic below.
